Sawdog Web Interface

The Sawdog Web Interface is my contribution to the Sawdog project in September 2006. It’s basically a simple PHP script that displays the status of all services observed by Sawdog on a single HTML page that automatically updates using AJAX magic. The web interface now comes with every copy of Sawdog 2.4 and above.

Sawdog (Simple Active Watch-DOG) is a suite of scripts written by Christian Gloor and Michi Zaugg at Digicomp. It allows services to be monitored at the protocol-level and informs the system administartors in case of a service going down.

Visit Sawdog’s home or go to Sawdog’s freshmeat page.

Greasemonkey Scripts

I wrote a few simple Greasemonkey scripts for personal use that I have published on userscripts.org. Somehow, many people started to use my scripts (one of them has been installed over 10’000 times) so I continue to maintain them and implement features the users request.

Greasemonkey is a Firefox Extension that allows users to install scripts (JavaScript) that can alter a web page on-the-fly or add additional functionality, do site mashups, etc. Read more about Greasemonkey on the official Greasemonkey weblog.

This Website

I am currently (whenever I feel like) working on a super magic web publishing thing. My primary goal is to create an engine for websites that is completely modular and provides unlimited flexibility. The core will be very basic and slim, while all other functionality will be provided through plugins that can be customized by altering their output templates.

The main purpose of this is to create a tool that lets me very easily add content to my own website, hoping that I might publish some more stuff. It’s kind of a work around my own lazyness ;)
However, this site and another one already run an eraly prototype of it.

As soon as I feel like the software is ready for the world, I will publish the source code under an open-source license.
